50th Chapter opens in the Heart of Africa - Kenya on the world stage!

This has been a very significant week for Kenya, in more ways than one.

The itSMF Kenya Chapter opened officially on the evening of the 4th of November, in the midst of the excitement of the US Elections that would bring a Kenyan's son to President.

The Chairman of the Chapter, Nick Wambugu, and his team have done an amazing job in preparing for this launch. Not only were there over 300 people at the launch at the Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi, but there were one Silver (Knowledge Transfer Centre) and three Gold sponsors ( AXIOS Systems, Seven Seas Technologies and Lenovo ) providing very active support.

Dr. Bitange Ndemo, C.B.S from the Ministry for Information and Communication (in photo on left with Peter Brooks),congratulated the Chapter on its formation, making it clear how important Service Management is for the future of IT. The itSMF Kenya presented Dr. Ndemo with a plaque in recognition of his contribution to the Industry in Kenya. Dr. Ndemo, in his address, showed his strong grasp of the issues facing IT and his commitment to providing government backing to initiatives to enhance its growth and professionalism. The itSMF Kenya has thus demonstrated the key ITIL principle of having Senior Management Commitment in a very practical manner!

The itSMF International, represented by the Marketing and Development Director, welcomed the itSMF Kenya into the global family, and presented the itSMF Kenya with the Charter, thanking the Chapter for its generous Kenyan hospitality, looking forward to productive years of collaboration in the future.

Kenya is undergoing string economic recovery and the vibrancy in Nairobi is palpable. The itSMF Kenya is very well set to provide strong leadership into the future, as this launch, attended by Students of IT as well as Professionals, Senior IT Managers, and CIOs.
