itSMF International IEB Portfolio Change Announcement

Peter Cross, Director of Chapter Governance, who was elected at the itSMF 2009 elections, has announced his decision to step down from itSMF governing body, the International Executive Board (IEB). After consultation with the IEB Chairman, David Cannon, in June, 2010, his decision has been accepted.

itSMF Global White Paper winner - Available to Download

We are pleased to make the winning whitepaper from the inaugural itSMF Global submissions competition available for download.

The submission (which won the 2009 itSMF UK Best White Paper Submission category) was written by Ian MacDonald of the Co-Operative Finacial Services Organisation.

It is entitled "A simple, low cost but innovative approach to end-to-end service reporting"

itSMF International Whitepaper Competition Results

 

We would like to announce the winner of the inaugural International Whitepaper Competition.

Chapters were invited to submit their own best paper or submission award winner.  We received 19 finalists from a wide range of countries covering many different subject areas within Service Management.

itSMF International White Paper Competition Update

Our judges have been very busy reading through the high quality submissions received for this competition. We are down to three finalists and the final decision will be made by the end of this week (July 2nd).

itSMF Global Survey is now Closed

The itSMF 2010 Global Survey attracted 1091 responses - the most were from Australia, with 210 responses. The results will be analysed and sent to Chapters that took part early in July. The winner of the draw for the iPad was Dave Porcelijn of KLM, Schiphol Amsterdam - congratulations, Dave and enjoy your iPad!

Keith Aldis steps down as itSMF International Company Secretary

Keith Aldis, the long standing Company Secretary for itSMF International (itSMFI) has announced his intention to step down from its governing body, the International Executive Board (IEB). In an e-mail to the IEB Chairman, David Cannon, in March, 2010, it was agreed that a handover period would take place culminating in Keith's final IEB meeting and thus resignation effective from 31st May 2010.

White Paper Submission Competition

itSMF is conducting a competition to find the best white paper submissions from our global community. Our goal is to publish these as a volume in the fourth quarter of 2010, individual papers will also be available to download, free to itSMF members. We plan to hold this contest every year.

We are asking our local chapters to call for submissions from their own members, forwarding the best entries to our Chief Editor for judging by our Editorial Advisory Board. e are looking for submissions that promote our goal of providing thought leadership and innovation to our movement.

The translation of ITIL® V3 Intermediate Examinations has begun

The APM Group would like to confirm that translations for ITIL V3 Intermediate Examinations have commenced in the following languages and modules:-

  • Brazilian Portuguese - OSA
  • German - SO 
  • Danish - OSA 
  • Japanese - SOA 
  • French - OSA 
  • Spanish - SO

The first translation to be available will be German and it is expected in April 2010. There will be two modules for each language. We are planning to release the first module in each language by May 2010 and the second, in the latter part of the year.

Latest Update from itSMF International Chair - David Cannon

It is a pleasure to introduce myself as chairman of the itSMF international executive board. I am very grateful for the confidence that the chapters have placed in me and my fellow board members. We have just completed our first meeting, and I would like to give an overview of our strategy for this year.

Some basic principles

Firstly, although I have spent many years on National Chapter boards, I have not yet learned the secret to getting through a year without making a mistake. But here is what I have learned.

Marianna Billington is the Services Manager at Fairfax Media in New Zealand, Fairfax is an Australasian company who delivers quality publications to the New Zealand and Australian market. In her current role Marianna faces the daily challenge of implementing a best practice framework.

itSMF International Executive Board new Portfolio assignments

Following the notification to you on Thursday, 20th January 2010, of the result of the selection of the Chairman charged with leading the organisation forward, the International Executive Board (IEB) Chairman, has agreed and allocated portfolios to each of the IEB Directors. 

They are as follows;  

itSMF International Appoints New Chair & 7th Director

The new itSMF International Executive Board (IEB) met today in the itSMF UK Offices in England UK, to receive the count for votes as to who is to be the new Director to replace Sharon Taylor who stepped down at the end of 2009, together with confirming who is to Chair the organisation moving forwards.

Following the second ballot of Chapter Leaders recently held, the IEB is pleased to announce that Marianna Billington from New Zealand has joined the IEB with immediate effect. Full details and a short biography of Marianna will be available shortly.
