itSMF International Partner, BCS Extends Range of Qualifications Abroad

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, is proactively extending its range of IT qualifications abroad. The announcement at this year's itSMF USA conference will mean accredited training organizations (ATOs) can apply to be recognized for BCS examinations more quickly, and at no additional cost.

OGC Vacancy - IT Service Management (ITSM) Portfolio Manager - based in Norwich/London (UK)

The Office for Government Commerce (OGC) have posted a vacancy for a IT Service Management (ITSM) Portfolio Manager, based in Norwich/London. The closing date is October 12th 2009.

Through the working partnership between OGC and itSMFI this has been opened up to itSMF members.

These are the outline details of the role:

itSMF International Executive Board Elections

There are currently 3 Director Positions which shall become available for the itSMF International Executive Board (IEB) for the period 2010/11.
 

The three Candidates who poll the highest numbers of votes, from eligible Chapters, will be submitted to the Full Chapter Board at the AGM on Friday 30th October 2009, with the recommendation that they be appointed as Directors of the company.

Nominations for itSMF International IEB now Closed

After the small extension (due to local phone cables being inadvertantly cut by workmen) the nomination period for the itSMF International Executive Board 2009 Elections has now closed.

The details and the Voting Slips and Candidate Statements will go out to the Chapter Leaders at the end of August

itSMF International Seeking Publications Partner

As part of the development of the itSMF International publishing strategy we are seeking a publishing partner who will work with us to plan, produce and market a collection of information, in various formats to our global community.

We are mindful of the fact that a number of our chapters are successful publishers in their own right.  Therefore we would like to extend the opportunity to all chapters to submit proposals for consideration as we go about the process of selecting our partner in this venture.

Problems with itSMF International telephone line

We are currently experiencing problems receiving incoming telephone calls.
This is a technical fault which is being looked into by BT. We hope to have this fixed ASAP.

itSMFI CLC Update - including draft agenda and Booking link

The itSMFI IEB have some great plans in store for our second Annual Chapter Leadership Conference, to be held this year in Barcelona, Spain.  We've been working diligently to plan a program that builds on last year's success and has taken your feedback into account.  To do this, we are planning a 2-day mix of plenary sessions, workshops and breakouts.  While the event program is still being finalized, we'd like to offer you a sneak peak into what's been planned to date.  Here are several items of note to keep in mind as you review the program:

itSMF Trademark Agreement

On 31st July 2009 the Boards of itSMF International and itSMF UK signed the itSMF trademark agreement document.

As you are aware, the itSMF UK and itSMF International Boards of Management have been negotiating the terms for the acquisition of the itSMF trademark brand. This negotiation follows a motion carried at the November 2007 AGM to undertake this action and secure the International ownership of the movement brand and manage its protection, recognition and future growth.

Formation of New itSMF Chapters

Over the past number of years, itSMF International (itSMFI) has approved the formation of new chapters through a well established and long standing process.

This is a critical service of the itSMFI and one that nurtures and makes possible, the growth of our movement around the world. Consistent with our philosophy of continual service improvement for all itSMFI initiatives, we review our processes with a view to ensuring their continued relevance, effectiveness and value.

itSMFI Chapter Leadership Conference Update

Dear itSMF Chapter Leader;

Plans are underway for the 2009 Chapter Leadership Conference.

This year's event will be held 28 and 29 of October at the Barceló Sants Hotel in Barcelona, Spain, immediately following the itSMF Spain event and immediately before the itSMF Chapter Annual General Meeting.

itSMFI Exec Board Elections Nomination

Latest News from the Chief Editor

After almost two months in the job I am pleased to report that some important milestones have been reached.

Our new "Knowledge Repository"

My primary responsibility is to establish a new collection of material for our members worldwide. We will offer much more than books, the "knowledge repository" is going to provide not only somewhere you can go to get information, but also a place where our members can share their own knowledge with the global community. Our mission is for this to be your first port of call when you are looking for any Service Management related information. Whether you want a PowerPoint presentation, a template for a policy, an academic research article or a book, we expect to be able to provide it.

itSMF International Translations Update

We would like to inform the itSMF Chapters of an important change to the translation process that affects many of you.

For the last two years Mark Lillycrop has managed the translation project for itSMF International, and has been your single point of contact (SPOC) for all publications business. It wasn't an easy job and was complicated by restrictions in the contracts that were in place at the time. We would like to thank Mark for his excellent work on the project.
