Call for volunteers for New itSMF International Chapter Development Committee

The itSMF International Board is seeking volunteers from the itSMF community to serve on the now-forming "itSMF International Chapter Development and Support Committee" (iDaSC), initially to be chaired by Ken Wendle, Director of Chapter Services.

This committee will be responsible for, among other things, the following tasks:

50th Chapter Celebration – Artwork Competition winner

 

Congratulations go to John Wallhoff who is the Treasurer of the itSMF Sweden Chapter, for submitting the winning entry to our competition to find a logo which was symbolic of a real milestone in the development of our movement. That of the 50th Chapter to be approved by itSMF International. His well earned iPod Touch, will be on its way in a few days!

The 50th Chapter Celebration logo may be used on each Chapter's website and any printed literature produced specifically for events during the 50th Chapter celebrations during 2009.

2009 Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC) Location Announcement

itSMF International is pleased to announce the location as Barcelona Spain, and the dates for the 2009 CLC as 28 - 29 October.

Based on input from last year's CLC, this year's premier Chapter Leadership event will be held over TWO FULL days in conjunction with a major Chapter event!

itSMF International LinkedIn Group gets 1,000th member

The itSMF International LinkedIn group has just passed the milestone of it's 1,000th member -Sue Conger from Dallas, USA.

Sue Conger has a Ph.D. in computer information systems from the Stern School of Management at New York University. She is the author of The New Software Engineering and Planning and Designing Effective Web Sites, and is publishing Process Mapping & Management while beginning IT Service Management. She is currently on the faculty of University of Dallas where she manages both Information Technology and IT Service Management (ITSM) programs.

Chief Editor of ITSM Library role opportunity

itSMF International is seeking to employ a new Chief Editor for its ITSM Library to take over from its current Interim Chief Editor, Keith Aldis.

2008 AGM and Inaugeral itSMFI Chapter Leadership Conference a great success

The itSMF International Board met its Chapters on Friday the 14th November 2008, at the Hilton, Warwick in the UK. Of the 53 Chapters currently chartered, 43 Chapters attended both the Annual General Meeting and Annual Chapter Meeting held over 2 1/2 days. Both meetings were preceded by the very first Chapter Leadership Conference and the UK Chapter's Annual conference.

 

The attendees followed a programme of workshops, presentations and fun, fraternity and fellowship all aimed at getting a greater level of understanding amongst the Chapters and a deeper understanding of how the organisation can support, develop and promote best practice on IT Service Management worldwide.

The British Computer Society (BCS) and the IT Service Management Forum International (itSMFI) sign agreement

BCS is very happy to work with ITSMF International and contribute to the future development of IT Service Management. The international Forum is a key partner for BCS with regard to the future development of qualifications and professionalism in IT. BCS is looking forward to a great cooperation with the ITSMF International and the ITSMF chapters.

The itSMFI is delighted to have this agreement in place to work together with the BCS on matters of mutual interest to our members and we look forward to this agreement adding value to both our organisations in the future.

itSMFI and ISACA Enter Agreement to Support Member Services, Frameworks

To recognize their mutual interests and work more closely together on key initiatives, the ISACA and the IT Service Management Forum International (itSMFI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU enables both organizations to enhance the services they provide to members, promote the complementary frameworks that are the focus of the respective organizations, and focus their efforts on practical delivery support to the global IT community for the integrated use of ITIL and the COBIT framework.

50th Chapter Celebration - Art work competition - Call for Contributions

The itSMF International will launch a year-long celebration of the itSMF signing up its 50th Chapter.

Each week, for 50 weeks each financial itSMF Chapter world wide will have the opportunity to contribute one promotional web-page linked to the front page of the itSMFI web-site. This promotion will consist of a URL leading to one page describing, for example; the chapter's history, with a note from a handful of its most successful company members where the CEO or Financial director says what Service Management and the itSMF has done for their company. Once the week is over, each page will be part of an archive that will record the celebration page for this great milestone in our history.

itSMF International (itSMFI) will be holding its inaugerial Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC) in Warwick, UK on November 12-13 2008.

Chapter Leadership Conference: Call for Faculty and Qualifications

The itSMF International is seeking qualified, experienced faculty to present at the first itSMF Chapter Leadership Conference (“CLC”).

itSMF International and APMG Forge Closer Links To Benefit Service Managers

The ethics board of The APM Group (APMG) met the board of itSMF International (itSMFI) recently to further knit relations between their organisations, which both share the aim of establishing the highest possible standards among service management professionals. Cementing their alliance Sharon Taylor, Chair, itSMFI nd Richard Pharro, CEO, APMG, signed a contract, which seals the agreement whereby APMG will share revenue generated from the ITIL Foundation exams to help itSMFI expand and support chapters. In return, tSMFI is committed to promoting ITIL globally and supporting the qualification scheme through its involvement n the ITIL Qualifications board.

Colin Rudd, itSMFI’s Qualification Board representative and ITIL author, said “I am pleased that a close working relationship has been established for the benefit of the service management community and for ITIL at large.” “We were impressed with APMG’s corporate governance structure and have extended an offer to Richard Pharro to speak about the subject at itSMF conferences."

itSMF Journal

The itSMF International will be publishing a research journal for the IT Service Management community. The journal will provide an independent platform for the publication, and debate, of original, high quality, peer-reviewed research into aspects of IT Service Management. In time it is hoped that the journal will be in a position to suggest and sponsor lines of enquiry for research and keep a register of research in progress.

itSMF International hosts first International Open Virtual Chapter meeting to positive Chapter feedback

June 16th, 2008 marked a new direction for the International Executive Board of itSMFI. Committed to open, transparent Board operations, the IEB hosted the inaugural virtual meeting, open to all itSMF Chapters. The 2008/2009 IEB is working hard to ensure that we provide formal mechanisms that encourage Chapters to interact with their executive board of directors on a regular basis, rather than only at the AGM held every fall.

itSMF International Chair Communication - May 2008

Since my last communication to Chapters, a lot has been happening on the IEB. In early April, the IEB held a two day meeting to solidify the deliverables for each Director Service Portfolio and to confirm our common understanding of the purpose, objectives and role the itSMFI plays in the industry. Without question, the primary purpose for our existence is to serve Chapter interests and to lead global initiatives that all Chapters and their members derive benefit from.

Sharon Taylor, Chair of itSMF International is delighted to announce Alex Kist as the organisation's Vice-Chairman. Alex is one of the new International Executive Board (IEB) members for itSMF International, who took up office in January 2008.

Update from Chair - February 2008

Last month I communicated with all of you about the work the new Executive Board of itSMFI was undertaking. Since then, the Directors have held bi-weekly meetings and we are making very good progress on the initiatives outlined in my last report. I plan to make this report a regular one so that you remained informed about all activities taking place and how the Executive Board is managing itSMFI on your behalf.

Executive Board Portfolios

One of our first activities was to review the existing portfolio structure which delegates focal points and accountability to the Executive team. The review concluded in January and some adjustments to the portfolio structure were agreed by the Executive Board.
